My kitesurf board is cracked or broken, what can I do?Updated 8 months ago
Necessary tools and materials:
- Sandpaper (different grit sizes)
- Acetone or rubbing alcohol
- Glass fiber fabric
- Epoxy resin and hardener
- Brush
- Plastic spatula
- Scissors
Step-by-step instructions:
1. Cleaning: Clean the damaged area thoroughly with acetone or rubbing alcohol and allow to dry.
2. Sanding: Sand the damaged area and the surrounding area with sandpaper.
3. Cut the fiberglass to size: Cut a piece of fiberglass cloth to generously cover the damaged area.
4. Mix epoxy resin: Mix the epoxy resin according to the instructions on the packaging.
5. Apply resin: Apply a thin layer of resin to the damaged area.
6. Apply fiberglass: Place the cut fiberglass fabric on the area coated with resin.
7. Apply another layer of resin: Apply another layer of resin over the fiberglass fabric and smooth with a spatula.
8. Allow to cure: Allow the board to cure according to the resin manufacturer's instructions.
9. Sanding: After curing, sand the repaired area smooth.
